What this site does with what you give it

The free instruments

The access opener (on this site's homepage), the Overdraw Self-Scorer (at /scorer), the Granted Share Calculator, the Conferral Design Scorecard, the Conferral Vendor Scorecard and the Route Audit all compute entirely in your browser. What you type into any of them — funnel stages, customer tallies, conversion rates, the ten criterion scores and their evidence tags, the channels you list in the audit and the labels you give them — is never sent anywhere. Nothing is saved between visits; reload the page and it's gone. None of them uses localStorage or any other form of browser storage. Where the audit compares two runs, the first is held in the page's memory for that visit only and goes when the tab does.

The one exception: the Access Survey

The Access Survey is the only page on this site that records an answer. It exists because a framework with no data of its own has to hedge every claim it makes, and that is a worse problem than the one this creates. The page says so above its first question, rather than only here, where you would find it afterwards.

Exactly what is recorded, in full: which field you picked from the menu, your yes-or-no answer to the second question, your yes-or-no answer to the third, and — if you answer the optional fourth — roughly how much of your week that route takes. Four values, each chosen from a fixed list of options.

What is not recorded, and cannot be: there is no free-text box anywhere on that page, so there is nothing you could type for it to keep. No email address is asked for at any point. No name, no account, no cookie, no identifier of any kind, and nothing that links one answer to another or to you. The endpoint checks every value against a fixed list and rejects anything else, so the page cannot quietly grow a free-text field without someone changing the code and changing this paragraph with it.

The counts are stored by Cloudflare, which hosts this site, and Cloudflare deletes them after ninety days; a copy of the tally is exported before that. Because nothing recorded identifies anyone, an individual answer cannot be found, changed or removed once it is submitted — there is nothing in it to search for. If findings are published they will be free, and will carry the number of responses, how people were recruited, and what the sample cannot support.

If you join the list

Each of those instruments offers, after your result, to add you to the list: new instruments and standards as they go up, what I learn from running them, and sometimes something I am selling — usually one email a month or less. It is optional, it is never a condition of seeing your result, and it is the only mailing list on this site.

Exactly what is sent when you use it: your email address, which instrument you used, and your result band — a single word such as "leaking", "mid" or "granted-core". That is the whole payload. Your funnel stages, your customer tally, your conversion rates, the ten criterion scores and their evidence tags are not included and never leave your browser, which is what the section above means. The band is the same coarse label the result screen already showed you.

The same list is offered on the Meeting Redesign Kit and at the end of some articles. Those send your address and which page you signed up on, and nothing else: they have no result to send.

The address is stored by MailerLite, the email service that sends the mail, and is used for that list and nothing else. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes the address. Ask at the contact address below and it will be deleted.

MailerLite, which sends the emails, records whether each one was opened and which links in it were clicked. That is how I see what is useful — including which of the “where will you use this?” links at the end of a letter you pick. Nothing else is tracked, and turning off images in your email app stops the open count.

If you email or buy something

If you email clint@grantedattention.com — including sending your ledger to request the Customer-Journey Diagnostic, or your score to request a Conferral Design Review — we keep your address and whatever you sent us, only to respond and fulfill. Those requests open your own email client with the message pre-filled; nothing is sent until you send it, and you can edit or delete anything in it first. All paid work is requested by email and invoiced directly; there is no checkout on this site and no payment processor involved in it. If that changes, this page changes with it.

Analytics and tracking

This site runs Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views in aggregate, and a small first-party event beacon (also served through Cloudflare, no third party involved) that records which free tool you completed and the single headline value it produced — for example, "Overdraw Score: leaking", "Rent Index: mid", or "Design Scorecard: 28/40" — never the funnel stages, customer counts, criterion scores, channel names, or any other content you typed. The route audit sends no events and nothing you type. Corrected 31 August 2026: this paragraph used to give the scorecard example as a band name ("capture-financed"). Scorecard v2.0 removed band labels and the beacon now carries the score instead, so the description had gone stale — logged at the corrections record. Neither sets tracking cookies, builds a device fingerprint, or follows you to other sites.
